Done! Well almost...

The bathroom is done! Like, I can finally take a shower there tomorrow morning! You seriously don't know how excited I am!

The mirror and our refurbished light...my FAVORITE part!

I am also very pleased with the vanity project. Now all we need is a new sink and countertop (Bathroom Project Phase II...we are going to make a concrete counter top! At least attempt to make one!)

The "well almost..." part: I think this is true for pretty much everyone out there (at least I am going to tell myself that so I don't feel so badly) - does anyone ever REALLY complete a project? Like to a point where you can sit in a room and not find ANYTHING wrong with it?? When I say our bathroom is Done! I mean it, minus little things like these that we say we will fix...someday.

Tape and paint drips - but they are behind the toilette, so who is even going to see it anyway?

The "oh shit" moments everyone has while painting. meh, we have to paint the ceiling anyway, and I think some molding might just be the perfect last touch...

Here are a couple before and after shots. The after shots are much much better! (Well except Barb...you are welcome in my bathroom anytime!)

Our next project...the dreaded basement! First we'll need to save up some serious $$ and work much harder at convincing our friends that Iowa ROCKS so they visit, and then make them work the entire time they are here! hehe...

mirror mirror on the wall

(we all know I am the fairest of them all!)

I splurged on a new mirror for the bathroom yesterday. The old one with the new frame just wasn't cutting it for me. The new one...just wait! It is A.MA.ZING! Hopefully it is worth the extra work we are going to have to do to install it (move the light and possibly patch that huge hole in the wall - although I am really hoping we won't have to do that.)

let there be light

Hey Maddie - remember the blinding light we used to have in our bathroom? The clear light bulbs with about an inch of dust on top of each one?

It's gone! And this stylish light fixture will now cast a soft glow on my beautiful face every morning!

Amazing what a can of spray paint and a few new light bulbs will do, huh?! A savings of $50! Next up - a frame for that mirror.

bathroom (sick of seeing it yet?)

Not much has changed...almost done painting the walls, which are finally starting to dry (after 3 days...). And decided to start work on the vanity. We are just painting this as well, but should look completely different when we are done. I think we will have a very new, updated looking bathroom when this is all over and done with for less than $150 (minus a new counter top).

1st coat

One more to go!

Bathroom Project

blank slate

It is 1:22AM and I just finished applying the first coat of primer to the bathroom. My ultimate goal is/was to finish painting before Marissa wakes up in the morning, so she won't have to take a shower in our scary downstairs bathroom. Sorry Marissa! As I mentioned in a previous post, we have lived in this house for almost two years and until this afternoon NO ONE, I repeat NO ONE has taken a shower in the scary downstairs bathroom. Only brave men will even use the scary downstairs bathroom. I am happy/ashamed to announce that I was the first one to take a shower down 'there' - after making Nic scrub the thing with a toothbrush!

Anyway, here are some photos at the half way point. After getting a little sleep, I hope to finish up tomorrow..in between getting out of changing Jackson's diaper and cooking for my favorite sister-in-law (from MN).

Bathroom Project

(eww, look how yellow our floors look! Hum, guess we'll have to lay some new tile sooner than we thought! and...think we should get some new blinds?! How about a new vanity while we're at it?)

Bathroom Project

I am crossing my fingers that the mirror will cover up the mandatory 'KP + NS'

t minus 6 hours

Well, I just applied the second coat of mud to the crappy areas of the wall in our bathroom. Marissa and Jackson just left Minnesota and should be to our place around 7. I don't think I can finish by the time they get here. Oh well.
