Bad Stick
As good citizens of Washington, Iowa, Nic and I decided to donate blood yesterday to the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center. This was Nic's second time donating and my first. Before leaving to donate, Nic recalled his first time donating blood to me. I was a little nervous, but not enough to keep me from donating. As I watched the nurse "stick" Nic, I thought to myself, "this isn't going to be so bad." I WAS WRONG! Let's just say that I had a very bad first "stick" and won't be donating blood again for a very long time. I fought back tears while donating and was able to finish with my donation, but right as we left, the waterworks began. Maybe donating blood isn't for everyone...I will stick to fighting cancer. Although I do encourage everyone to donate at least one time, there is a great need for it.
