After doing SO WELL for the first three weeks of sticking to our cash budget - week four was a major failure and we blew through all of what we had hoped to save, plus some. It all started when we ran out of our most expensive grocery items at the same time (olive oil, frozen fruit, chicken) and blew our grocery budget out of the water. Then - we went to Minnesota. Trips to Minnesota for us cost around $100 in gas, plus a ton of money spent on groceries (so I can cook for the families) and some money spent on going out/eating in with friends.
So, here's to our second month of the cash budget. If we are able to stick to this, most of our savings will go towards catching up from the damage we did in the first month. Looks like our basement project will be put on hold for just a bit longer.
