This weekend Nic and I decided to make a very last minute trip up to Minnesota for a surprise visit. The real purpose of the visit was to swing by REI to try out some bikes, but seeing family and getting in a quick photo shoot with Leah were the icing on the cake!
We got to Mom's around 9:30PM and decided to just ring the doorbell instead of barging in with all of our stuff. I think we were able to surprise Mom and Roger, just a little. I also texted Maddie and Jake letting them know we were home, and the both of them demanded to talk to Mom to make sure I wasn't lying. harhar
It ended up being a very pleasant, yet full weekend. Saturday Nic and I checked out a few bikes at REI but decided to hold off for a while. We got our shop on at Rosedale to get some cute outfits for our photo shoot later that afternoon with Leah. The best news of the weekend - I fit into a SIZE 6 jean at Gap! WHOOP!! I don't think I have been in a size 6 since high school. It was a pleasant surprise. However, I ended up getting a different style jean and had to buy the 8s. Oh well.
We had a quick lunch with Nic's family and got some much need time with the adorable niece and nephew. Barb snapped a cute photo of Nic and I with them...remember to email that to me Barb! :)
At 4:00 we were scheduled to do a quick mini session with Leah, and also convinced Mom and Roger to come down. This was probably the highlight of the weekend (well, a close second after the jeans...). I can't wait to see some of the photos Leah took! Between Leah, Maddie and crazy Nic - we should have some fun shots.
Back to Nic's for a quick oil change and more fun watching Jackson break into some of Nic's old toys...ohmygosh - he was hilarious! Marissa picked up quite a few totes that day and when Jackson found the tote with all of Nic's old dinosaurs, he was elated! This find was soooo cool that the neighbor kid, who had just figured out he could ride a bike on TWO WHEELS! decided to trash the bike for the dinosaurs. Too funny.
We took off early Sunday morning to get down to Iowa City in time to pick up Nic's new bike, and to fit in a 6.3 mile run before the sun set.
Amazing weekend, however I am looking forward to spending the next few weekends in Iowa.
