On my way home I had a strange exchange of text messages of someone who was claiming to be my mom. After about 15 texts, and calls to Maddie, Ike and Mom just to make sure they weren't messing with me, I finally convinced this stranger that I was in fact not her daughter Mariah, no I would not be home for dinner, and to please stop texting me.
For some reason I was strangely way motivated to get a long run in today. {hmmm, cough - I found out Ike ran 7 miles earlier today...} and headed to the Y shortly after getting home. A quick arm workout was followed by TEN miles on the treadmill. Er, that was pretty boring, but it was way too humid to run outside (paired with the fact that we are under a tornado watch, the treadmill was looking like my only option.)
I brought an orange slice to refuel halfway through.
Sweaty Kier. (eww - we'll just go ahead and leave that close up picture off this blog)
Salty Kier.
Hungry Kier. (I snacked on string cheese before getting to work on dinner.)
Dinner was amazing. I've seen the recipe for Chana Masala on a few blogs lately and decided to give it a try. I ended up loosely following this recipe, but have seen it here too. Since I've never heard of this dish before not to long ago, I had no idea what to expect. Oh my - so easy and so delicious! I paired it with some carrot fries that Nic made for me and was a happy camper.
I sipped on a coconut water mocktail while I cooked and dug my fork into some watermelon for dessert.
Looks like more storms are brewing up here in the deep south!
Hi Nic!
Tomorrow is going to be another great day! Here's a hint of what's to come:
- Mid morning snack - with a great volunteer
- Lunch - with two great co-workers
- Dinner - on the road all alone :(
