Day 5 in Paris = Museum Day.
When it comes to visiting museums, I am very glad to be in the company of Nic, Ike and Maddie. We all "do" museums the same way - quick and dirty. Today our game plan was to see a few famous things and cruise through all the "other stuff."
Twas another gloomy day in Paris...
First Museum on the list was the Orsay Museum which hosts French art of the 1800s and early 1900s. A few of the famous artists' whose works are showcased here are Manet, Monet, Renoir, Degas, and Van Gogh. No photos were permitted which was a bummer because the museum is an old train station that was absolutely beautiful.
Ike, Nic and I had a museum pass from the day before so we got in right away. Maddie on the other hand had to wait in a long line....I was pretty much done by the time she got in. We also learned that we need to have a solid plan in place before visiting museums as we all browse at our own pace - and can easily get separated/lose each other.
The next stop on the list was the Orsay museum which houses Monet's famous water lillies. These clearly are awesome paintings, but we were more impressed with a few others in the collection.
We then made our way to the Louvre.
Which was a walk through a museum itself...
Again, we made sure to see a few famous pieces before we did the Louvre our style. "Cardio Louvre" was the name of our game. Seriously - if you could go to the Louvre when very few people were there and did it our style you would get in a great workout! I think I should get a job in the marketing department for the Louvre...
Kier spies something red...
What is it?
Clearly, I am in more awe of the actual building then of all the art - seriously! So much attention to detail in a place as big as the Louvre is just amazing!
The prettiest piece of art we saw... (clearly I am referring to the photo below and not the Mona Lisa)
When we came across these little figures, Maddie proclaimed "hey look! original Playmobiles!" Ike then corrected her and let us all know that they were called "clay-mobiles" back then. Hardy har har.
A day of museums may cause a case of the following...
Hey look - Kier is wearing jeggings!!
Our street at night - gorgeous!
A lovely day ended with another delicious dinner of bread, cheese, wine and sweets from a few stores down our road.
I love you Paris.
