A quick recap of our third day in Paris...which of course, we started off on the right foot - with more Starbucks!! Yep, pretty sure we spent at least 15 minutes looking for the nearest location online last night.
After Starbucks we commenced the Marais walking tour a la the Rick Steve's Paris guide.
Place de la Bastille
Hotel de Sully
Place des Vosges
Here is a statue of Louis XIII on horseback gesturing, "Look at this wonderful square my papa built..."
And Nic totally agrees. Here is Nic frolicing in the sandbox.
Walking down Rue Pavee
With a pit stop at the Paris Historical Library.
Our final destination on this walk was the historic Jewish Quarter - which boasts a ton of fallafel houses and beaucoup bakeries.
The L'as du Fallafel is an institution. There was a huge line when we got there an the place was packed to the brim. It was totally worth the wait - delicious!
After resting our feet at the apartment for a bit, we decided to head out for a quick stroll. Which shortly turned into a 6+ mile walk with one destination in mind....
The Eiffel Tower!
So cool at night, totally made the walk worth it.
We are planning on going back to the tower on Friday, when it is finally supposed to be sunny and kind of warm, to check out the sweet views from the top.
The walk home took a bit, mostly because we had walked a gazillion miles already and we were hungry. A few failed attempts to find a baguette on our way home, we finally picked up some other bread, more cheese and fruit and feasted on some delicious sandwiches around 10:30PM.
For dessert, I popped a sleeping pill, washed it down with some wine and was done for the night. I was finally able to get a full night's sleep without waking up!
Au Revoir!
Love the french braid. :)
