tenth avenue garden:: garlic
My goal for 2013 is to transform our lot in town into a beautiful edible organic garden. There is a lot of planning to do, probably even more so than I think, but it is all about taking small steps.
I began today with planting a few rows of garlic. This is my first time planting garlic, so I started with a very small crop, but might add a few more rows in the coming days before it gets too cold.
Maia went crazy for the hay, so I am going to have to fence in the small space in the garden with the garlic.
Ultimately, I would love to buy a sizable chunk of land in the country and be able to do all of this on a bit larger scale, and my dream would be to be able to focus on this full time. Imagine a beautiful old farm house, barn, a few out buildings, and a huge garden, small fruit orchard, and some goats and chickens for good measure.
Am I a total suburban girl living in a dream world?
Probably.
But a girl can dream, and will keep dreaming until it is reality. Until then, welcome to the 10th Avenue Garden, where a city girl learns how to farm in town.

You need to watch Good Neighbors....you may remember it from your childhood when I forced you to watch public tv...but it's perfect for you!
ReplyDeleteI vaguely remember it. Nic and I should start watching it, now that our lives are void of British sitcoms...
DeleteLooks great! :o) You are making me hungry already!!
ReplyDeleteI planted even more on Saturday! I really hope it all takes off next summer and grows like mad.
