Today was AH-mazing. Nic headed into work bright and early and was back before I even opened an eye. After a quick breakfast we headed out for a nice 9 mile run (me) and bike ride (Nic). I love starting our Sundays this way, and whether Nic knows it or not, we will continue to do this throughout the summer! :)
I also looove my Garmin, although it can be a little 'addicting' when running. Sometimes I just can't stop checking my pace/distance/etc. While this is very beneficial, it can also get in the way of a good run. This was very clear on my run this morning.
Splits:
mile 1 - 8:20
mile 2 - 8:35
mile 3 - 8:14
mile 4 - 8:07
mile 5 - 8:14
mile 6 - 8:08
mile 7 - 8:14
mile 8 - 8:31
mile 9 - 8:29
Total distance - 9 miles
Time - 1:14:56
My virtual partner is always set at 8:33 pace on my long runs. Why 8:33? Here's why. So my first two miles I was very persistent in checking my watch to make sure I didn't start off too fast. And then I decided to let my body determine my pace - check out miles 3-7, pretty dang good if you ask me! Miles 8 and 9 got pretty rough, but I still managed to finish with an average pace of 8:20. Success!
So now the question is - can I keep up a pace like that for 4 more miles? I guess we'll find out in a few weeks when we head up to Fargo for the Fargo Half Marathon.
Right after the run/bike we tackled our forest of a lawn, much to our neighbor's delight I am sure. We sat down for a delicious lunch, headed out to the gun range (only to discover a 4-H group was using every range), and then to the bar to quench our thirsts with a few cold ones. A bedroom full of clean laundry was begging to be folded when we got home and that is how we spent our night!
Can't believe the weekend is over...looking forward to a low-key week at work!
Im so impressed with you. 9 miles in little over a hour. I would love to be able to run like that.
