first race

I think I very well, possibly, just might be the 2nd fastest female in our city!  Okay...just the 2nd fastest female that showed up for this morning's Demon Dash For Cash 5k race.  Not only am I the second fastest female, I am THE fastest female between the ages of 20-29 (I think that was the age category)!

What a great way to start off my race season!  Last year I only ran one 5k and my time was 24:39.  Well, I was able to shave off over two minutes this morning and posted a time of 22:02.

Here are my splits:
mile 1 - 6:53
mile 2 - 7:23
mile 3 - 7:20
last .1 - 7:33 (faster really, since I forgot to stop my watch when I finished :(
Total distance - 3:08 (so it was a short 5k...does it really matter?)
Average pace - 7:13

What a great way to start off the morning!  Nic and I then headed up to Iowa City with Maia to get her a much needing grooming, and to get me some new running shoes.  We ended up having to drive to Cedar Rapids to get my shoes, and grabbed lunch at this delicious French cafe - Croissant Du Jour.

Not much planned for the rest of the day - maybe a walk and a movie.  Tomorrow we have got to tackle our lawn, which is currently studded with beautiful yellow flowers that I just know our neighbors LOVE.
