Today has been a long, but great day! Started the day out earlier frantically looking for our point and shoot in the garage among all of my relay crap. We've been looking for it for months now! With me in MN for most of the weekend and weekend and Nic planning a backpacking trip with Maia while I am gone, we were fighting over who got to take the camera.
After giving up looking in the garage, I whipped together a refreshing breakfast of Cheerios, Kashi Go Lean Flax, 1 banana, 5 strawberries, chia seeds and soy milk. With an iced coffee of course!
I then packed up the car with some of that relay crap I spoke of earlier and headed up to Iowa City to grab coffee with a volunteer and meet with some co-workers for lunch.
I grabbed an iced coffee and a chocolate chip scone from the Java House and had a great discussion with one of my volunteers/old co-workers from Family Video!
After a quick side trip to Petco for some kitty food, and a series of phone calls with my co-workers, I thought our lunch plans were vetoed. But after some discussion, we decided to meet up but to change our location from the Leaf Kitchen in Iowa City to Unc 'n Nephs in Washington. Because we are classy like that.
I love my co-workers, especially us lonely remote workers. When we actually see each other, we end up stretching a one hour lunch into something more like 2 hours, and vent about more things than just work. Fun times!
I fingers only made it into the combo instant heart attack basket for a few fried items, and I had a grilled chicken salad (sans cheese) for lunch.
After devouring a quick bowl of cherries, Nic and I then headed out to a program about taking your non-profit boards from good to great that was put on by our Chamber. That was a long 2.5 hours...but came away with a few good points. This is a two-part class and I am not too sure if I will be heading back next week.
Finally - we got home, had a quick bite of yesterday's Chana Masala (so good the next day!!), threw some clothes into my suitcase and hit the road!
To supplement the chana masala, I made a mixed nut butter, cinnamon and banana sandwich.
I also snacked on some cherries, strawberries and my left over chocolate chip scone from this morning.
My 5.5 hour drive felt more like two since I was on the phone with Becky for a majority of the time - love that girl. My cheeks hurt from laughing so much about our future life plans.
The rest of the drive I spent listening to this book on CD that Nic picked up for me at the library and frantically trying to find a radio station with some sort of weather forecast. Pretty sure I was right on the cusp of a bad storm for about an hour...
I finally pulled in to B-town around 11:30, had a fun talk with the brother and made plans to go to Britt's tomorrow morning for the USA and England games - so excited!
OH! And we found the camera - it has been sitting at the Y for months!! We used it a while back to take "after" photos from our hYped class. So glad.
