wrapped and ready

I am the worst sister ever. A full week after Maddie's birthday and almost two weeks after Ike's birthday, I am just getting their gifts ready to ship out. I texted them both yesterday: Come hell or high water, your birthday packages will be in the mail tomorrow. Fail.

Here's a little sneak peak guys...you won't be disappointed! :) And I PROMISE, they will be in the mail tomorrow.

In other news: today I ran a 6:59 mile during my 30 minute tempo run!

Stats:
mile 1 - 7:51
mile 2 - 7:20
mile 3 - 6:59
mile 3 - 3.8 - 8:32 (cool down)
total distance: 3.8 miles
average pace: 7:38

I woke up late this morning (ha - love how 6:30 is late now!) so I wasn't able to get my run in before work, so I headed out after a quick trip to the farmers market this evening. Maybe it was just because it was a tempo run, where the point is trying to run a bit faster, but it seems that my AM runs are a bit slow lately and I am able to push a little harder on afternoon runs. I guess we'll see what next week's runs look like!

Farmer's Market:
Tomorrow, we get our last CSA box for the year. We've decided not to sign up for the summer box (August - Sept), and rely on our town's farmers market for our produce. We took it easy this week and just brought home the following - for a measly 11 bucks!

We were about to leave when I spotted these beauties! I love home grown carrots - and their even organic to boot!

Food:
My new favorite breakfast that I spotted over at Oh She Glows. Try it, you won't be sorry!

First mix up a batch of over night 2 hour oats:
1/3 cup oats
1/2 cup water
2 big spoons Chobani yogurt
1.5T chia seeds

Then make some strawberry, peach, banana soft serve:
1.5 frozen bananas
1/2 peach
5 strawberries
Whirl in the food processor until smooth.

Layer the oats and soft serve, then top with the remaining peaches! YUM.

Nic made those delicious pesto burgers that he whipped up on Tuesday for dinner. They weren't as good as the first time, but still ah.mazing, even though Nic cooked them Grandpa style (read: burnt).

We served them on some homemade sun dried tomato and pesto foccicca bread, with some sweet Iowa sweet corn and fresh tomatoes on the side.

Off to bed - have Core tomorrow morning! I am still sore from Wednesday's class, so hopefully it goes well!

  1. I just found your blog via the nest - I'm live in Iowa too :-) Just started getting into running this year and I'm doing my first half marathon in 2 weeks!

I'll definitely have to check out more stuff on here - especially all the food :-)
