scenes from today

Nic and I are in Des Moines this weekend for the IMT Des Moines Half Marathon. No real goals for this race, just to run as fast/hard as I can, have fun and stay positive.

Here are just a few scenes from our day so far:

We started off the afternoon with a trip to the expo. This was the first time I've been to the Des Moines Marathon expo, and it was actually quite pleasant. Not too many people or booths to make my head spin.

...and the boxes full of mini lara bars didn't hurt either.

Best marathon expo ever!!

Seriously, I made Nic go to the expo twice so we could dig out handfuls of them! We ended up with over 45...

My name is Kierstan, and I have a problem.

We then walked a few blocks to West End Architectural Salvage aka the coolest place ever. Next time we will be bringing piles of cash and a U-Haul.

A quick stop at Java Joes rounded out our time spent walking around downtown Des Moines.

Last up for the night was a stop at Mullet's to watch the first race of the Oakley Night Cap Cross. Again, cyclocross races seem pretty epic. Cyclocross races at night, with live bands and beaucoup beer, seem insanely epic. I really hope Nic decides to get into this!

Good night from Des Moines!
