modified fargo marathon training plan

Pending my knee feeling okay on today's run - here is my tentative training plan for Fargo. I get scared looking at it...not many days until the race will be here!

Modified Fargo Training Plan

What do you think? Doable??

My goal for the race is to finish under 4 hours - I don't care if Jeri has to drag me by my shoe laces, I will finish under 4.

  1. It looks doable! You might have to settle for a 4+ finish if that means keeping your knee happy though!

  2. Glad you've got a plan figured out! Hope the knee keeps feeling good and you're able to meet your goal. Keep us posted on how it goes (as I know you will :-)

  3. My two cents: I would take out one of the days of speedwork (likely the speedwork day v. the tempo run day) and replace it with straight easy mileage for the day. Trying to do speed so close to being "injured" is a recipe for disaster.... totally sucky b/c (for me) speedwork is the most fun... but I want you to get to the start line dang it!

And instead of me dragging you, let's just tie a rope on Ang and let her speedy booty pull us along. ;)

  4. Second sidenote! I didn't take the time to total your weekly mileage, but I know the 10% rule is a godo one to follow especially when you're coming back from something.

    Ok, I swear I'm done now. ;)

  5. Whoa, does this plan have 6-7 days of running? Only you know if that is doable, but I second the idea of taking out speed. And if it were me I would cut back to 4-5 days of running. But, you know your body better than I do! And have probably been running longer! :) I hope your knee does cooperate!

I'm revisiting, and as a novice marathoner I must admit I have no right to comment on your plan. But... I gotta agree with the PPs that maybe scaling back the speedwork and for sure taking 1-2 rest days per week sounds like a good idea when coming back from an injury. Hope things are going ok!
