I am a visual learner...so I like pictures...so here is a bunch of pictures and video treats, yum!
Greg and I camped next to the Rum River in St. Francis Friday night and got up at 5 am for an 11 mile fishing/canoeing trip.
Lots of wild life...
Quiet river to ourselves...
Beautiful day...
Good friends...
and lunch on a sand bar.
Kierstan missed a thank you at nephew Jackson's 2.5 pirate themed birthday party.
The next day we went to Mora for my grandma's 80th and my grandpa's 85th birthday party. Lots of people I didn't know, but got to see 10 of my 11 cousins and their kids.
Plus some shooting time too.
I stopped in Rochester to have lunch with a friend and then made it back to see my wife again. Relaxing 3 day weekend, I need more of them!
I am now on a kick for a hand gun, very fun to shot, and a kayak/canoe. I miss Minnesota lakes, great basins dug out by giant glaciers a long time ago. Unfortunately the glaciers decided to melt in northern Iowa, so we only have damed up creeks and the occasional river. I'd love to get into river fishing, very peace full, and lots of small rivers around. I am also going to try my luck for fish on some farm ponds since the lake I used to go to is drained for repairs. One person has offered to let me fish some of his ponds and hopefully I can break my "I can't catch any fish in Iowa curse". Please write any tips, serious or not, in the comment section bellow.
If you are indeed cursed in Iowa, my tip will for sure catch you more fish: move back to Minnesota.
ReplyDeleteBTW I'm totally serious. :)
